HISTORY FROM THE CLOCK TOWER
Welcome to the new Waterloo-Area Historical Society website. The information available will be constructed in a stepwise fashion so that eventually a great deal of useful genealogical and historical information will be displayed for purposes of reference for family history researchers. All materials are copyrighted, and while we encourage individuals to make fair use for their knowledge, none of the files are to be copied for incorporation into other websites.

The museum is open on Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day at 1-4 p.m., and on Waterloo Wednesdays (posted at the Chamber of Commerce). Arrangements can be made for group visits to the museum or for personal research purposes by contacting one of the principals.

This site is organized to provide information about the Waterloo-Area Historical Society and its holdings; the historic content will be regularly supplemented. For the present, the available material is reflected by the categories in the reference bar at the top of this page.

The former St. Joseph’s church, erected in 1869, serves as the location of the Waterloo Area Historical Society and Museum. The museum is appropriately situated on a hill overlooking the beautiful city of Waterloo, Wisconsin. It is located on Polk Street in Waterloo. With its original bell installed in the nineteenth century and the clocks that serve as a beacon, the museum stands as a sentinel for the whole city. There is parking available immediately to the west of the museum accessed from South Monroe street.
